theTestPrepGuy.com specializes in academic test prep for students from middle and high school, through college and graduate school. In addition to test prep for a wide variety of subjects, tests and exams, we also offer assistance with homework, special projects, and interview prep for internships, case studies and job opportunities.
With extensive experience tutoring in all math-related subjects; english; statistics; AP’s; and standardized tests, Matthew is accessible, flexible, patient and accommodating. Utilizing adaptable study techniques to fit most students’ learning styles, he tailors lesson plans to meet each student’s needs, and is available for both online and in-person tutoring.
Possessing a strong aptitude for standardized tests, Matthew himself tested in the top 1% nationwide on all of his high school and college entrance exams, as well as the AP Math, BC and SAT Math II exams. He draws upon his own experience and successful study techniques to tutor and mentor a broad variety of individuals in all stages of life.
Matthew graduated Magna Cum Laude in Finance, from the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School of Business.
Over the years, he has tutored hundreds of students with excellent results, throughout both the academic year and during school vacations.
Matthew thoroughly enjoys tutoring, is passionate about meeting his students where they are, and above all, helping them to succeed.
ABOUT
Born and raised in Manhattan, Matthew began tutoring in 8th grade at the prestigious Oliver’s Scholars Prep-to-Prep Program in New York City. There, he spent five summers preparing high achieving, underprivileged 7th and 8th grade students for their high school exams, and acceptance into the most elite public, private and boarding schools on full scholarship. These exams included New York’s renowned Specialized High Schools Admissions Test (SHSAT) -- an examination administered to eighth and ninth-grade students residing in New York City, and used to determine admission into the city's nine Specialized High Schools; the Secondary School Admission Test (SSAT) and the Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE) exams, for private school admission. He also founded and led the program's chess elective.
For eight years, throughout middle and high school, Matthew traveled nationally playing competitive chess, consistently placing in the top ten in the country -- both individually and with his school chess team.
Matthew has written, directed, and produced four short documentary films, being named a 4-time first-place winner at the New York CITY History Day Competition; a 2-time first-place winner at the New York STATE History Day Competition, and was named
"the under 18" first-place winner at the
Moondance International Film Festival
for "Best Short Documentary"

Matthew attended the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School of Business, where he concentrated in finance and psychology.
Throughout his university years, he worked for a NYC-based Venture Capital firm helping found Flex Rent. As their Head of Research, he surveyed customer opinions and elicited feedback for product optimization to build Flex’s website and mobile app. Matthew was largely responsible for the site’s content, flow and user engagement.
